Love Promise Stories from Valley Subaru of Longmont

Subaru and Valley Subaru of Longmont believe in making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. We uphold that belief through our Love Promise Community Commitment. Every month, we select inspiring stories from customers and partners from around our area who strive to support our collective commitment and feature them here.

Subaru Loves the Earth - Chelsea M.

Valley Subaru proudly celebrated Subaru Loves the Earth this year by partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation to give back in a meaningful, green-forward way. Together, we handed out 100 seedling trees to our community—each one a small but powerful step toward healthier forests, cleaner air, and a more sustainable future. Seeing families, kids, and local residents pick out their seedlings and share where they planned to plant them was a reminder of how connected we all are to the environment around us. We’re grateful for the chance to support our neighbors and help more trees take root right here at home. Stay tuned for more information about next year's event if you'd like to claim your own tree!

Share the Love - Cliff C.

Our longtime friends at Valley Subaru have once again selected Longmont Humane Society as their hometown charity for the Subaru Share the Love event. This incredible partnership has continued for many years and every time, the generosity of the Valley customers amazes us. This year, they presented a check for $35,629 during our Homeward Bound Gala! These funds directly support the animals in our care and help us continue our mission of giving pets the second chances they deserve. We look forward to another successful Share the Love program this holiday season.

Make A Dog's Day - Maria W.

Subaru's annual holiday, Make A Dog's Day, is always a hit with the dogs here at Longmont Humane Society! Valley Subaru came by again this year to spoil all the pups at LHS to celebrate. Each dog in our care had the opportunity to swing by the Subaru tent during the afternoon walk to receive a pup cup, a Subaru Outback dog toy, and lots of love and affection from their staff! Sometimes it's the simplest gestures that can really make a dog's day!

St. Vrain River Cleanup - Chelsea M.

To celebrate Subaru Loves the Earth Month and World Water Day, Valley Subaru hosted another St. Vrain River cleanup in partnership with Protect Our Rivers. 61 volunteers gathered to remove 615 lbs of trash from the St. Vrain and around Dickens Farm Nature Area. We're so grateful for the Valley Subaru team and Longmont Community for rallying together to clean our waterways and keep our natural areas safe to enjoy!

Delivering Hope: Subaru Brings Comfort to Cancer Patients - Lauren S.

Through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative, Valley Subaru of Longmont has partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Commonspirit Longmont United Hospital- Hope Cancer Centers to bring comfort and encouragement to cancer patients. Each summer, this meaningful collaboration results in the delivery of cozy blankets and handwritten messages of hope. On 6/25/25 date, Valley Subaru of Longmont generously visited the hospital to personally deliver these items, brightening the day of patients undergoing treatment. These simple yet powerful gestures are deeply appreciated—patients often share how much it means to feel seen and supported by their broader community. By engaging local Subaru retailers and community members, these deliveries not only uplift patients but also help advance LLS’s mission to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. We are truly grateful for Subaru’s compassion, generosity, and commitment to making a meaningful difference.

Valley Subaru of Longmont Supports Colorado FriendShip - Joshua S.

Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Longmont, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why Valley Subaru of Longmont is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like Valley Subaru of Longmont have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. On 01/23/2025, Valley Subaru of Longmont donated 120 coats to Colorado FriendShip. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.

Pet of the Month - Calli B.

As a volunteer at Longmont Humane Society, I have been working with Valley Subaru for years to feature some of our longest stay shelter dogs. I bring a dog to the dealership once a month for a photo shoot, in hopes they might be seen by some potential adopters or on social media. The dogs have a wonderful time getting a field trip away from the shelter and the Valley employees all love it too!

Keeping Trash out of Landfills - Jackie C.

Valley Subaru and the Kiva Center created a display in the dealership to highlight Kiva's mission and raise awareness about the small ways we can all make a difference imn caring for our environment! 1 billion plastic landry detergent bottles end up in landfills each year. On average, 75% of the plastics from detergent pods are released into oceans, rivers, canals and soil. Samples of the home made detergent that the kids made is available for guests to take with them, along with a recipe to make their own!

Colorado Friendship - Chelsea M.

Valley Subaru is proud to support local non-profit, Colorado FriendShip! During our last Subaru Loves to Help initiative, we were able to provide new shoes and socks to youth in need. This year, we will be providing coats for kids this winter. Colorado FriendShip not only provides clothes to those who need it, they provide meals to kids facing food insecurity. Through their hot meals and school programs, they do their best to ensure no child will go without a meal. They also assist those facing homelessness with food and clothing. Additionally, they are there to help victims of natural disasters.

Supporting Longmont Humane This Holiday Season - Chelsea M.

Valley Subaru is proud to be a long time supporter of Longmont Humane Society! We know not everyone can adopt a pet, that's why we try to offer other ways you can support their mission. If you're at the dealership, stop by the parts counter to check out the giving tree. Take an ornament featuring a shelter pet and make a donation...no amount is too small! Yes, even the change in your pocket can make a difference! Or, if you're in the market for a new vehicle, LHS is one of our Hometown Charities again for Share the Love! Through Jan 2, your purchase of a new Subaru can provide a $325 donation to the shelter at no additional cost to you! Just select Longmont Humane Society as your donation recipient after purchase. We look forward to seeing how much we can raise for the shelter animals this season!

Connecting Youth with the Outdoors and Themselves - Jackie C.

Valley Subaru and the Kiva Center have partnered to support the mission of building inner strength and compassion in Colorado's youth through transformational nature connection experiences! The Kiva Center was selected as one of Valley Subaru's Share the Love Hometown Charities in 2023 and Valley and their customers raised $16,687 for Kiva! These funds provide scholarships for families in our homeschool programs and helps expand our free after school program. Donations like these also provide scholarships for teachers and counselors to attend out professional development training programs. Valley Subaru's support helps us inspire children to connect with nature, foster their curiosity and develop a lifelong appreciation for the environment, as well as empower children and educators alike with the tools they need for personal growth and compassionate leadership. We're looking forward to the continued partnership through the 2024 Share the Love program!

Make A Dog's Day - Chelsea M.

Valley Subaru was thrilled to visit Longmont Humane Society for this year's Make A Dog's Day! To make the day extra special, they made pumpkin pup cups for all the dogs at the shelter! These special treats were layered with peanut butter, greek yogurt, pumpkin, whipped cream and topped with custom Subaru Loves Pets biscuits from AJ's Dog Bakery! It was a special day for the dogs, and even more special for the humans who got to deliver this happiness!

Protect Our Rivers and Valley Subaru were proud to partner again for a St. Vrain Cleanup to celebrate World Water Day! We had a goal of cleaning up 500 lbs of trash and an amazing group of volunteers helped us significantly surpass that goal, collecting over 1,300 lbs! We had twice as many volunteers as we did the year before and it's so exciting to see this annual effort grow. We can't wait to do it again next year!

Returning Rapids - Mike D.

The Returning Rapids Project is a group of river loving folks based in Moab, Utah. Our project seeks to document the recovery of the Colorado River in Cataract Canyon, upper Glen Canyon, and along the San Juan - areas that were once inundated by a full (and now receding) Lake Powell Reservoir. Although Returning Rapids is in Utah, Valley Subaru understands how our rivers connect us all, regardless of what state we're in. Valley has made a donation to the Returning Rapids Project to support this work. They requested that their money be used specifically to support the involvement of people from many different tribal nations in our research trips. Grand Salmon Source to Sea - Danielle K.

In April 2022, The Grand Salmon team set off on an expedition from the headwaters of the Salmon River to the Pacific Ocean, following the natural migration of the dwindling sockeye salmon. Each woman on the team brought an academic background in environmental or fisheries science, plus careers as professional whitewater kayakers and river guides. The women spent 78 days skiing, whitewater kayaking, and sea kayaking 1,000+ miles source-to-sea through Idaho, Oregon, and Washington as a conservation campaign promoting the removal of the four lower Snake River dams, in order to save the rapidly dwindling Snake River Basin salmon populations from extinction. Valley Subaru proudly supported this trip with a financial donation and set up an in store display to help raise awareness. The Grand Salmon team is hoping to produce a short film about their experience and we hope to offer a screening at the dealership when the project is complete!

Sharing the Love with OUR Center - Elaine K.

Valley Subaru has long been a supporter of the OUR Center in Longmont. This organization helps our community with various homelessness prevention resources. Whether it be through rental assistance, hot meals, the food and clothing pantry, utility assistance, childcare, or any of their many other resources, the OUR Center's main goal is to help people work toward self sufficiency. Valley Subaru offers various donations throughout the year, but was thrilled to partner with the OUR Center again for the 2022 Share the Love program. The dealership and their customers were able to raise $12,383 to help support the OUR Center's mission to help our neighbors in need! We look forward to our continued partnership to make a difference in our community!

2023 South Platte River Cleanup - Sarah N.

Valley Subaru of Longmont continued their partnership with Protect Our Rivers for the 16th Annual South Platte River Cleanup! Their staff showed up to help hand out cleanup supplies to the volunteers, then got their hands dirty and helped with the cleanup themselves. This event gathered 358 volunteers to collect 6,050 lbs of trash from the South Platte! That's over 3 tons of trash no longer in our local waterways! Volunteers covered three separate on-land cleanup sites spanning 4.5 miles of the river. Additional volunteers got on the water in rafts, kayaks, and canoes to pull trash from another 2-mile river stretch! If you're interested in getting involved, visit protectourrivers.org for future events, and be sure to save the date for next year's South Platte Cleanup: May 4, 2024!

Homeward Bound 2023 - Emmy D.

Valley Subaru was a proud sponsor of the Longmont Humane Society's Homeward Bound fundraising event again this year! Beyond being an event sponsor, they surprised the LHS community with the Subaru Share the Love® donation check during the event. Thanks to this amazing program, Valley Subaru and their customers were able to raise a whopping $27,800 to help support the Humane Society's mission. These funds not only support homeless animals but also provide low-cost veterinary care for local pet owners!

World Water Day St. Vrain Cleanup - Sarah N.

Wednesday, March 22 was World Water Day and to celebrate, Valley Subaru partnered with Protect Our Rivers to host a St. Vrain Creek cleanup. Despite the snow and cold weather, 40 people showed up to help pull trash from the St. Vrain near Dickens Farm Nature Area. The group of volunteers pulled 585 lbs of trash from the creek and surrounding areas! Valley Subaru is continuing their partnership with Protect Our Rivers to implement an ongoing series of river cleanups throughout Northern Colorado. Maggie's second chance - McKenna W.

13 year old Maggie was brought to Longmont Humane Society after her owner passed away. Unfortunately, she was also morbidly obese at over 18lbs and struggled to groom herself. Maggie’s entire world had changed when she arrived at LHS. She was in a new place with new people and strange smells and sounds. Maggie became depressed and very reserved. After receiving medical care and some extra time with staff to help alleviate her depression Maggie was placed up for adoption at the end of September. Senior animals can often be underdogs. They require a special adopter as they usually have health issues and struggle to find homes. It is thanks to our partners at Longmont Subaru and their passion for encouraging adoption that Maggie was adopted in the beginning of October.

Longmont Humane Society Homeward Bound - Mitchell W.

Valley Subaru loves to sponsor Longmont Humane Society's Homeward Bound event every year, but 2022 was a truly special one! This year, we celebrate LHS's 50th anniversary serving animals in need! It was also the first time Homeward Bound was able to be hosted in person since 2019 due to the pandemic. We were all thrilled to join again this year to celebrate 50 years, enjoy a great time, and raise funds for the Humane Society's mission of saving lives. Thank you to everyone who showed up to support this wonderful event!

A Precious Child - Precious Gift Program - Misti M.

Valley Subaru and A Precious Child were excited to partner together on Share the Love for the first time this year! To celebrate the launch of Share the Love, we invited our mutual partner, Dalton Risner, of the Denver Broncos for an autograph signing! We collected holiday gifts at this event, educated the public about A Precious Child's work, and many of the Valley Subaru team members chose children to sponsor for the holiday season, committing to buy their 3 requested gifts! While general toy drives are great, sponsoring kids in this way ensures they will receive exactly what they want during the holiday season to bring some joy into their lives. We look forward to seeing how much we were able to raise during Share the Love to continue this mission!

Fill The Forester - Elaine K.

As part of the Subaru Loves to help initiative, Valley Subaru's staff and customers committed to filling a forester this holiday season with non-perishable food items for the OUR Center to ensure our neighbors in need had enough for their holiday meals. 364 pounds of food were collected and donated along with 80 waterproof blankets. These items help through the holiday season and beyond. The blankets are there for the homeless members of the Longmont community as temperatures continue to drop and the snow falls.
