Engine and Drivetrain Options for the 2024 Subaru Impreza
The Impreza Base and Sport trim variants come equipped with a 2.0-liter flat-four Boxer engine, producing 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. In contrast, the new RS trim boasts a 2.5L Boxer engine, delivering an impressive 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. Both Impreza models are paired with Subaru's Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). However, the Sport and RS trims enhance the driving experience with steering wheel paddle shifters featuring an 8-speed manual mode, providing drivers with greater transmission control. For the 2024 Impreza, Subaru has revamped the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system to enhance cornering ability, agility, and response times. This upgrade includes standard Active Torque Vectoring, which channels additional torque to the outer wheels and decelerates the inner wheels during cornering, offering improved stability. Moreover, the Impreza now incorporates a version of the WRX's dual-pinion electronic steering rack, delivering a more natural and responsive steering feel. In addition to these improvements, the Sport and RS trim levels are equipped with Subaru's SI-Drive performance management system and a sport-tuned suspension, optimizing handling and performance. The 2024 Impreza benefits from enhancements to the Subaru Global Platform chassis, resulting in a ten percent increase in torsional rigidity. This upgraded chassis contributes to improved body rigidity, reduced weight, enhanced performance, a quieter cabin, and a smoother ride.
What's New for the 2024 Subaru Impreza?
As previously mentioned, the 2024 Subaru Impreza has undergone significant changes. Notably, Subaru has discontinued the Impreza sedan, focusing exclusively on the five-door hatchback body style, which offers an expansive interior space of nearly 121 cubic feet. Furthermore, for the 2024 model year, roof crossbar mounting points have become standard, facilitating easy attachment of additional cargo storage for items such as bicycles, kayaks, and more. Inside the vehicle, the 7-inch infotainment touchscreen remains a standard feature. However, the 2024 Impreza now aligns with the rest of the Subaru lineup by offering an optional 11.6-inch tablet-style vertical infotainment touchscreen. Additionally, the seats have been enhanced to provide greater support, and the designers have incorporated additional sound insulation to reduce cabin noise. The 2024 Impreza also comes equipped with Subaru's EyeSight driver assistance technologies as standard, featuring updates for a broader field of view and quicker recognition of pedestrians and cyclists. EyeSight includes essential safety features like forward collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, blindspot monitoring, lane keep assist, and more. Lastly, the 2024 Impreza boasts a 10% increase in structural rigidity, resulting in a smoother ride and a quieter cabin.
What is the 2024 Subaru Impreza RS?
Originally introduced in 1998, the Impreza 2.5 RS marked the precursor to the now-renowned WRX in the American market. For the 2024 model year, Subaru is reintroducing the RS trim, a revival not seen since 2005. This new iteration of the RS comes equipped with the robust 2.5L Boxer engine, elevating its performance credentials. The 2024 Impreza RS distinguishes itself with a range of standout features. These include distinctive RS badging adorning the rear hatch and front doors, upgraded LED headlights, efficient LED fog lights, and sleek black-finished side mirrors, side spoilers, and grille. Additionally, the Impreza RS showcases unique 18-inch dark grey-finished alloy wheels, enhancing its visual appeal.
