Returning Rapids - Mike D.

The Returning Rapids Project is a group of river loving folks based in Moab, Utah. Our project seeks to document the recovery of the Colorado River in Cataract Canyon, upper Glen Canyon, and along the San Juan - areas that were once inundated by a full (and now receding) Lake Powell Reservoir. Although Returning Rapids is in Utah, Valley Subaru understands how our rivers connect us all, regardless of what state we're in. Valley has made a donation to the Returning Rapids Project to support this work. They requested that their money be used specifically to support the involvement of people from many different tribal nations in our research trips. Grand Salmon Source to Sea - Danielle K.

In April 2022, The Grand Salmon team set off on an expedition from the headwaters of the Salmon River to the Pacific Ocean, following the natural migration of the dwindling sockeye salmon. Each woman on the team brought an academic background in environmental or fisheries science, plus careers as professional whitewater kayakers and river guides. The women spent 78 days skiing, whitewater kayaking, and sea kayaking 1,000+ miles source-to-sea through Idaho, Oregon, and Washington as a conservation campaign promoting the removal of the four lower Snake River dams, in order to save the rapidly dwindling Snake River Basin salmon populations from extinction. Valley Subaru proudly supported this trip with a financial donation and set up an in store display to help raise awareness. The Grand Salmon team is hoping to produce a short film about their experience and we hope to offer a screening at the dealership when the project is complete!

Sharing the Love with OUR Center - Elaine K.

Valley Subaru has long been a supporter of the OUR Center in Longmont. This organization helps our community with various homelessness prevention resources. Whether it be through rental assistance, hot meals, the food and clothing pantry, utility assistance, childcare, or any of their many other resources, the OUR Center's main goal is to help people work toward self sufficiency. Valley Subaru offers various donations throughout the year, but was thrilled to partner with the OUR Center again for the 2022 Share the Love program. The dealership and their customers were able to raise $12,383 to help support the OUR Center's mission to help our neighbors in need! We look forward to our continued partnership to make a difference in our community!

2023 South Platte River Cleanup - Sarah N.

Valley Subaru of Longmont continued their partnership with Protect Our Rivers for the 16th Annual South Platte River Cleanup! Their staff showed up to help hand out cleanup supplies to the volunteers, then got their hands dirty and helped with the cleanup themselves. This event gathered 358 volunteers to collect 6,050 lbs of trash from the South Platte! That's over 3 tons of trash no longer in our local waterways! Volunteers covered three separate on-land cleanup sites spanning 4.5 miles of the river. Additional volunteers got on the water in rafts, kayaks, and canoes to pull trash from another 2-mile river stretch! If you're interested in getting involved, visit protectourrivers.org for future events, and be sure to save the date for next year's South Platte Cleanup: May 4, 2024!

Homeward Bound 2023 - Emmy D.

Valley Subaru was a proud sponsor of the Longmont Humane Society's Homeward Bound fundraising event again this year! Beyond being an event sponsor, they surprised the LHS community with the Subaru Share the Love® donation check during the event. Thanks to this amazing program, Valley Subaru and their customers were able to raise a whopping $27,800 to help support the Humane Society's mission. These funds not only support homeless animals but also provide low-cost veterinary care for local pet owners!

World Water Day St. Vrain Cleanup - Sarah N.

Wednesday, March 22 was World Water Day and to celebrate, Valley Subaru partnered with Protect Our Rivers to host a St. Vrain Creek cleanup. Despite the snow and cold weather, 40 people showed up to help pull trash from the St. Vrain near Dickens Farm Nature Area. The group of volunteers pulled 585 lbs of trash from the creek and surrounding areas! Valley Subaru is continuing their partnership with Protect Our Rivers to implement an ongoing series of river cleanups throughout Northern Colorado. Maggie's second chance - McKenna W.

13 year old Maggie was brought to Longmont Humane Society after her owner passed away. Unfortunately, she was also morbidly obese at over 18lbs and struggled to groom herself. Maggie’s entire world had changed when she arrived at LHS. She was in a new place with new people and strange smells and sounds. Maggie became depressed and very reserved. After receiving medical care and some extra time with staff to help alleviate her depression Maggie was placed up for adoption at the end of September. Senior animals can often be underdogs. They require a special adopter as they usually have health issues and struggle to find homes. It is thanks to our partners at Longmont Subaru and their passion for encouraging adoption that Maggie was adopted in the beginning of October.

Longmont Humane Society Homeward Bound - Mitchell W.

Valley Subaru loves to sponsor Longmont Humane Society's Homeward Bound event every year, but 2022 was a truly special one! This year, we celebrate LHS's 50th anniversary serving animals in need! It was also the first time Homeward Bound was able to be hosted in person since 2019 due to the pandemic. We were all thrilled to join again this year to celebrate 50 years, enjoy a great time, and raise funds for the Humane Society's mission of saving lives. Thank you to everyone who showed up to support this wonderful event!

A Precious Child - Precious Gift Program - Misti M.

Valley Subaru and A Precious Child were excited to partner together on Share the Love for the first time this year! To celebrate the launch of Share the Love, we invited our mutual partner, Dalton Risner, of the Denver Broncos for an autograph signing! We collected holiday gifts at this event, educated the public about A Precious Child's work, and many of the Valley Subaru team members chose children to sponsor for the holiday season, committing to buy their 3 requested gifts! While general toy drives are great, sponsoring kids in this way ensures they will receive exactly what they want during the holiday season to bring some joy into their lives. We look forward to seeing how much we were able to raise during Share the Love to continue this mission!

Fill The Forester - Elaine K.

As part of the Subaru Loves to help initiative, Valley Subaru's staff and customers committed to filling a forester this holiday season with non-perishable food items for the OUR Center to ensure our neighbors in need had enough for their holiday meals. 364 pounds of food were collected and donated along with 80 waterproof blankets. These items help through the holiday season and beyond. The blankets are there for the homeless members of the Longmont community as temperatures continue to drop and the snow falls.

A Second Chance for Lucious - Carrie B.

Longmont Humane Society is grateful for our ongoing partnership with Valley Subaru of Longmont. Their generous support continues to help our organization make a difference in the lives of thousands of animals in need each year – animals like Lucious. After spending an unknown amount of time living on his own, likely without consistent access to food, shelter or veterinary care, nine-year-old Lucious arrived at one of our partner shelters in New Mexico. Lucious was transferred from our partner shelter to Longmont Humane Society in February of 2021 with the hope of finding a second chance at a loving, forever home for this sweet, senior dog. After his arrival at LHS, our Health Care Team discovered that Lucious had elbow arthritis in his front legs and an old rear leg injury which was making walking even short distances painful and difficult. After receiving a veterinary assessment at Longmont Humane Society, our Health Care Team was able to design a pain management support regimen for Lucious so that he would have the chance of experiencing a happy life with a new, loving family of his own. Happily, Lucious was adopted in June of 2021 to a wonderful forever family that was very experienced at caring for senior dogs with special medical needs. It was evident that Lucious had found the perfect retirement home when LHS learned that his new family had purchased him his very own wagon, which they loaded with pillows and blankets, enabling him to enjoy walks and adventures with his new family, including his new senior dog siblings, even on days where he was feeling especially slow. Thanks to the support of generous partners like Valley Subaru of Longmont, Longmont Humane Society is proud to be able to offer second chances to animals in need, regardless of their age, background or unique needs.

Realities For Children Golf Tournament - Chelsea M.

Realities for Children Boulder County is an amazing non-profit organization that Valley Subaru loves to support! We had the pleasure of sponsoring their fundraising golf tournament this year were able to present the check from last year's Share the Love Campaign. During our last Share the Love, our customers helped us raise over $32,000 for RFC! That money provides college sponsorships and other support for youth aging out of foster care. These young people have faced many challenges in their lifetimes and remain driven to continue their education and put in the hard work to build the life they want. We can't think of a better place to donate! At the tournament, we were also able to meet our CU Boulder scholarship recipient, Alexis! She is a wonderful young woman pursuing a career in nursing. After everything we've seen in 2020 with the COVID 19 pandemic, we are so honored to help her journey into the medical field. Keep studying, Alexis, the entire Valley Subaru family is behind you!

Halloween Spooktacular Adoption - Humane Society - Chelsea M.

Due to our ongoing partnership with Longmont Humane Society, Valley Subaru was excited to assist LHS in getting a grant through Subaru and ASPCA this year! The grant money went straight to helping more animals get adopted from the shelter. On October 29 & 30, we were happy to support Longmont Humane in their half off "Halloween Spooktacular" adoption event. All animals over one year of age were adopted out at 50% of their standard adoption fee, making it a little easier for people who were considering adoption to do so! We are so grateful for the hard work put in by every employee and volunteer at Longmont Humane Society and are thrilled every time we get an opportunity to help them in their mission of finding forever homes for these wonderful animals!

Make A Dog's Day 2020 - Chelsea M.

Valley Subaru was proud to get involved with Subaru's annual Make A Dog's Day event again this year! On October 22, Subaru encourages people to adopt an underdog from their local shelter or do something extra special for their own dog. We're always behind that message! Our Valley Subaru Love Promise Coordinator made 100 dog-friendly homemade cupcakes to share with the shelter dogs waiting for their forever homes at Longmont Humane Society! Want to make these for your own dogs? Check out the recipe here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXQsXcGxkfc

Valley Subaru's LHS Pet of the Month - Kathy G.

Valley Subaru of Longmont's Pet of the Month program means everything to some of our longest-term resident dogs looking for a forever home! Every month, we bring a dog looking for just a bit of promotion to Valley Subaru of Longmont (dogs like Butter, shown here on his visit to the dealership). Staff from both organizations let dogs like Butter walk around for a personal doggie-photo shoot. Those photos of pups visiting Valley Subaru then make their way into local Valley Subaru promotions, often landing dogs like Butter a new family. Thank you, Valley Subaru, for going the extra mile for our community. From the animals and the people who love them: Woof!

Valley Subaru Changes Lives Through Scholarships - Leanne F.

Thank you Valley Subaru for donating $19,634.12 to Realities for Children Boulder County through your Subaru Share the Love event. We appreciate serving as your hometown charity! Your generous donation is being applied to educational scholarships benefiting Boulder County youth who have overcome significant obstacles including abuse and neglect. Most of the students we serve spent time in the foster care system. Research shows that as few as 11 percent of former foster care youth will attend college and from that number, approximately 5 percent will graduate. The students we serve are truly beating the odds – we appreciate Valley Subaru helping us to give hope to these amazing, resilient youth. This year, we awarded scholarships to six youth and a four-year extended scholarship to one student for the University of Colorado.

Valley Subaru & The LLS - Beth M.

Partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Valley Subaru of Longmont delivered blankets to Longmont United Hospital’s Hope Cancer Care Center on July 13, 2018. Although Valley Subaru is heavily involved in their community, this partnership holds a special place in their hearts.Chelsea Mack, a Subaru representative, described a story from a couple of years ago in which a patient reached out to the General Manager of Valley Subaru directly to tell her about how much the blanket meant to her. The blanket supported her while going through treatment, and she was touched that Subaru made this commitment to the cancer community.

Everything I want and more. - Bing V.

Winters in Colorado can be very unpredictable and I am never afraid in hazardous conditions in my Crosstrek. The ability to turn off AWD is very handy in certain conditions like when you get stuck. I've never had that problem though. Paddle shifters aren't just for fun either. Slowing down by switching to manual, in icy conditions, allows you to lay off the brake. I love my Subaru and purchasing it and maintaining it has been a breeze because of Valley Subaru. I named mine Clyde. Maybe you can guess why from the picture.

Subaru and NWF Love the Earth! - Kia M.

Had a great time with Valley Subaru of Longmont! We partnered with them for the #SubaruLovesTheEarth campaign, for donated gardening equipment and food, shelter and water sources for various small species. This new setup will make the school a certified wildlife habitat through the National Wildlife Federation and give us a great tool to teach the kids about the importance wildlife preservation and gardening!

Be a Butterfly Hero with Valley Subaru of Longmont - Chelsea M.

Valley Subaru of Longmont is bringing our commitment to the environment to life, by supporting the National Wildlife Federation (NWF). We know that loving the environment means more than loving the great outdoors, it means working to preserve it. Through our Subaru Loves the Earth initiative, we are supporting the Butterfly Heroes program and building habitats across the country. Did you know that 90% of Monarch butterflies have disappeared because their habitat is disappearing? We're working to fix that by providing a NWF certified wildlife habitat that supplies food, water, cover and places for butterflies to raise their young! This habitat will be on display at Valley Subaru of Longmont through the months of April and May and will then be donated to a local school. Why are the butterflies so important? Yes, they are beautiful to look at, but we need them to help pollenate our food. 1 of 3 bites on our dinner plate is made possible by pollinators. They're an important part of our ecosystem, and introducing habitats like the one we have at Valley Subaru plays an vital role in increasing butterfly populations.Come by Valley Subaru this month to see the NWF certified habitat and get your free packet of milkweed seeds! By planting these seeds, you'll be providing the food and cover the Monarch butterflies need to thrive. Join us in creating a community of Butterfly Heroes!

Saving lives, - Chelsea M.

When it comes to lifesaving partnerships, Valley Subaru/Nissan just gets it. Consistently first to step to the plate in supporting countless fundraising initiatives for Longmont Humane Society (LHS), it's clear to see that Valley's people treasure the human/animal bond, and are committed to seeing more pets find forever homes. Whether they're sponsoring Homeward Bound - the spring auction event or the Paws in the Park 5K Walk/Run & Festival, the entire team rallies in amazing ways to ensure LHS' success. They partner with LHS for the PAWS giving events, Holiday Pet & Family Photos, and the Holiday Giving Tree fundraiser - all in the hopes of giving a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. Valley's employees attend the events, contribute financially to LHS, welcome us into the dealerships for various functions, and have even opened their hearts and homes by adopting from LHS themselves. LHS is deeply grateful for our ongoing partnership with Valley Nissan/Subaru, which has and continues to provide second chances for animals in need.

Helping the Veterans in Longmont - Trisha D.

Veterans Helping Veterans Now is a wonderful organization that offers support for the veterans in our community. Valley Subaru is aware of the challenges that veterans face every day and we were proud to support this organization's annual Spaghetti Dinner that raised over $8,000! The funds raised will help VHVnow continue their mission to build healthier loves for local veterans and their families by providing free mental health services, support groups, educational opportunities and other forms of continued support.
